A state champion. An all-stater. A record setter.
That’s quite a legacy Cassidy (Foley) Walker created.
A three-sport standout who graduated from QND in 2014, Walker is best known for her soccer exploits. In four varsity seasons, she scored 135 goals, which ranks third in program history, and set the record for career assists with 88. She also established single-game records for goals (six) and assists (five).
Walker received all-sectional honors as a freshman before earning all-state plaudits from the Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association three consecutive seasons. She helped the Raiders win back-to-back state championships in 2012 and 2013.
After one season at Lewis & Clark Community College, where she led the NJCAA Division I with 33 assists and scored 16 goals, she transferred to Quincy University. She was a three-year starter with the Hawks and helped them reach the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division II National Tournament in 2017.
Had it not been for soccer, she might be as recognizable for her volleyball exploits. A three-year starter who helped the Raiders win the state championship in 2011, Walker finished her volleyball career with 942 kills, 1,031 digs and 113 aces. She was named a first-team all-stater as both a junior and a senior and was the Quincy Herald-Whig Player of the Year as a senior in 2013.
Walker also was a four-year letterwinner and a two-year starter on the girls basketball team, playing on state championship teams in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and helping the Raiders finish third in Class 3A in 2014.
"Thank you so much to the Quincy Notre Dame Hall of Fame committee for this tremendous recognition. I’d like to start off by thanking my parents, siblings, and grandparents for their support throughout my athletic career and for never missing a game. Having your constant support and encouragement throughout my life means the world to me. Your sacrifices did not go unnoticed, and I am forever appreciative of you all.
I’d like to thank my coaches. Coach Rich Meyer, Coach Eric Orne, and Coach Mark Longo instilled the importance of hard work, preparation, energy, discipline, and belief in myself. Without their leadership, our team’s successes would not have been possible. They prepared me for my collegiate career.
I’d also like to thank my teammates. I feel so incredibly thankful to have been surrounded by such talented, hardworking teammates that pushed me every day. The championships would not have been possible without our team’s trust in one another and desire to win. I am so grateful for all the memories shared on the court and field. Thank you again to everyone at Quincy Notre Dame that made my four years so unforgettable."
