Inducted 2014. Sutton first grabbed attention on the softball field as a freshman, posting a 10-3 record and a 0.55 earned run average for QND as it posted a 23-6 record and reached the 1993 Class A state tournament.
Sutton, a 1996 graduate, went on to play four years on the varsity softball team. When she wasn’t pitching, she also played shortstop and first base. She finished with a .391 career batting average with 26 doubles, 12 triples, five home runs and 86 RBIs during her career. As a pitcher, she had a 56-14 career record with a 0.62 earned run average, with 574 strikeouts and just 60 walks in 455 innings pitched. She pitched 69 complete games and 30 shutouts. She was named the team’s most valuable player twice.
She remains among the top 10 in school history in doubles, triples, homers and RBIs. She ranks in the top four in victories, complete games, games pitched, innings and earned run average. She’s third all-time in strikeouts and second in shutouts.
Sutton played college softball at both the University of Nebraska-Omaha and Quincy University.
Sutton and her husband, Eric, now live in Quincy, and they have a daughter and a son. She is employed by Blessing Hospital.
