Inducted 1996. Shown Personal and Financial Support to School’s Athletic Program
Carlene and Harry Geisler have shown strong personal and financial support to the Quincy Notre Dame athletic program. They established Notre Dame’s permanent endowment in 1978 and they were the general chairpersons for the school’s 1980 campaign. They also support the Saukee Area Council of Boy Scouts, the Two Rivers Council of the Girl Scouts, the YMCA, the YWCA and Chaddock.
For almost 50 years, the Geislers have devoted their time and resources to help those in need. Not only have they paved the way for a fledgling U.S. trucking industry, but they have also made it possible for children, young adults, parents and older people to blossom in Quincy.
The Geislers received the Saukee Area Council of the Boy Scouts’ Distinguished Citizen Award in 1992, as well as the Parker S. Gates Award in 1992. They fund a scholarship at Culver-Stockton College, support the emergency rescue corps in Quincy and provide financial assistance to many area churches. Mrs. Geisler was honored in 1995 by the Illinois Alliance for Aging at its Illinois Treasures Award Dinner for her “volunteerism, leadership and philanthropic support of numerous organizations.”
They were inducted into the CYO Hall of Fame in January 1996.
